A record number of applications were received this year. Thanks to the support of those who purchase Chase Hawks Memorial Association license plates, the committee was able to grant an additional $2,000 in scholarships.
Early in 2018, the Chase Hawks Memorial Association and its board members began looking for productive ways to utilize the revenue we were beginning to see from our own license plate. It was unanimously decided that a scholarship program would be the perfect fit. Through much work and dedication, CHMA was able to get this program off the ground in time to award several scholarships to local students to aid in their educational pursuits.
Over the Labor Day Weekend in 2018, the Association was dealt a crushing blow when we lost a cornerstone in the foundation of our organization, Frank Chesarek. Frank was instrumental in the inception of the Chase Hawks Memorial Association, the coordinator of the Rough Stock Rodeo Weekend, and our all-around rock-solid pillar of support, experience and advise. He is dearly missed by all who knew him.
To honor his dedication to CHMA, his commitment to education and his spirit of giving to our community, we will now and forever refer to this scholarship program as the Frank Chesarek Memorial Scholarship Program. The scholarship program was established as another way for the Chase Hawks Memorial Association to extend assistance to the community and to expand the impact of their mission, Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
More scholarships will be available February 2024.
