harpers
In September 2018, just 90 days after Cody and Lindsey Harper of Roundup, MT, said “I do”, Cody was diagnosed with Stage IV esophageal cancer which was aggressively spreading. Throughout Cody’s treatment journey, he and his family were faced with extensive medical and travel costs. The Chase Hawks Community Crisis Fund was able to provide some financial assistance to the Harper family while their focus was on their loved one. Cody had his wife, family, and community by his side and was a warrior in his heart and mind until the very end. In July 2019, Cody earned his wings after a courageous battle against cancer. With condolences to the Harper family, we will remember Cody’s Courage. We would like to thank you for supporting the Chase Hawks Memorial Association with your attendance at our many annual events, allowing us to support families like the Harpers.

A sick or injured child is a crisis for any parent. By providing financial assistance to help those families pay a bill, by groceries or fuel to travel for treatments, we give families the ability focus on what really matters.

We chip away, one family at a time, toward our vision of no person forgoing necessities because of financial constraints due to a crisis. In practice, this means that a single mom with cancer does not have to choose between buying groceries and putting gas in her car to make it to chemotherapy appointments. With your generous support, Chase Hawks Memorial Association can provide a grocery gift card so she can put dinner on the table for her kids and get the treatment she needs to get healthy and back on her feet.

While we never know exactly what kind of assistance will be requested, we have provided fuel for families to drive sick children to Denver, built wheelchair ramps, collected clothes and household items for fire victims, secured airline and bus tickets for medical travel, covered funeral expenses, and even provided Christmas toys for families in crisis who must spend their dollars elsewhere.

Every request is researched and whenever possible, we provide assistance in the form of a gift card, or by paying a bill directly instead of giving cash. This helps ensure that your dollars go where they are supposed to.
